Friday, June 19
is Juneteenth in the City of Leavenworth. This holiday celebrates the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865.
Leavenworth City offices and the Riverfront Community Center are closed Friday, June 19. Trash will be on regular schedule the week of June 15 - 19. If your residence has a Friday trash pickup, it will continue as scheduled that day. There will be no large item pickup Friday, June 19. The Brush Site and Recycling Center are closed Friday June 19.
Saturday, June 13
(a week prior) is the Juneteenth Parade in the City of Leavenworth, sponsored by the Leavenworth Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or NAACP. The parade route is through downtown Leavenworth and will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday June 13 at the parking lot of Leavenworth City Hall, 100 N. Fifth Street. The route will move south on Fifth Street, west on Delaware Street to Seventh Street, then south on Seventh Street to Haymarket Square. The parade ends at Haymarket Square, 7th and Cherokee streets.
