Deputy City Manager
The City of Leavenworth is seeking qualified applicants to report directly to the City Manager and assists with all facets of the City’s governmental organization and administration. The Deputy City Manager will provide executive leadership, organizational oversight, strategic planning, policy implementation, and operational management of assigned departments, divisions, and City-wide initiatives. This position works closely with other departments and stakeholders in a collaborative manner to achieve City objectives and represents the City at various activities in the community. Work is performed with wide latitude for exercise of independent judgment and action under minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration or related field; and
- At least five years of progressively responsible executive or senior management experience in municipal or county government including supervisory experience; and
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license at time of application (and maintain for duration of employment) and meet insurability standards under fleet insurance policy.
- Considerable knowledge of modern policies and practices of public administration; working knowledge of municipal finance, human resources, public works, public safety, parks, information technology, and community development;
- Advanced knowledge of economic development best practices, policies, incentive programs, and trends. Working knowledge of industrial and heavy commercial industry growth planning, recruitment and retention.
- Skill in preparing and administering municipal budgets; skill in planning, directing and administering municipal programs; skill in operating the listed tools and equipment;
- Ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive reports; ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to efficiently and effectively administer a municipal government.
- Ability to work closely with department directors, elected officials, governmental agencies, service organizations, etc. in a collaborative and effective manner to achieve positive results.
- Must be bondable.
- Residency in Leavenworth city limits is preferred but not required.
Starting Salary Range: $105,575 - $131,970 + excellent benefits package
