City Commission Regular Meeting
The Leavenworth City Commission is scheduled to review a special use permit for Core Civic to operate a private prison as part of their regular meeting that takes place 6 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 24 at Leavenworth City Hall, 100 N. Fifth Street. A full agenda can be found below.
Because of anticipated public interest, the City is sharing the following information:
- The entrance door to City Hall for Commission meetings will open at 5 p.m. It is on the north side of the building along Seneca Street. City Hall main entrance on the west side of the building along 5th Street (accessing the City Clerk's Office) will close after regular business on Tuesday and remain unavailable for meeting access.
- The Commission Chamber doors will also open at 5 p.m. Seating in the Commission Chambers is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Standing will not be permitted inside the Commission Chambers.
- Those who wish to provide public comment must sign up. A sign-up sheet will be provided prior to the meeting, from 5 - 6 p.m., directly outside the Commission Chambers. When called, speakers will approach the podium. Public comment will be limited to 3 minutes per speaker. Individuals who wish to speak must provide their name and address.
- For those unable to be seated in the Chambers, the City will provide an overflow viewing area in the hallway outside the Chambers, including audio and a television display with a live feed of the meeting.
- The meeting will also be live streamed on the City's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/leavenworthkansas. There is no live public comment on this digital feed.
- Handicapped-accessible parking is available on the north side (Seneca Street) entrance. If you need reasonable ADA assistance to attend the meeting, please contact Penny Holler, Assistant City Manager at Penny.Holler@leavenworthks.gov.
